The person that lies to us more than anyone else is the person we look at in the mirror every single day. In this blog I want to expose some of the lies that we tell ourselves that keep us from living the blessed life that God has for us.
The first lie that we tell ourselves is...I can’t do that.
So many times we naturally lean toward an “I can’t” attitude. I can’t do this. I can’t do that. I want to but I'll never be good at this one certain thing. When we speak those words we very well may be talking ourselves out of doing something that we know would be beneficial to our life and the people around us.
To be honest, I used to live with an “I can’t” attitude, but I decided long ago to throw the words “I Can’t” out of my vocabulary. Life is too short! I’ve made up in my mind that I am not going to waste one more moment of even one more day of my life worrying about what I think I can’t do; Instead, I’m going to focus on what I can do. And the good news is, for those of us that have surrendered to the grace of Jesus Christ, we can do almost anything we set our mind too.
Paul, a man who accomplished some incredible things in his life once said…“I know what it is to be rich and I know what it is to be poor…but I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
When you look at Biblical history some very ordinary people accomplished extraordinary things. Through Christ, average people have parted seas, destroyed giants, killed lions, and saved nations. But we sit back and say to ourselves “I can’t pay my light bill this month, I can’t make my marriage work, or I just don’t see how I can ever start that business”.
Are you kidding me?
“I can’t pay my bills, I can’t save my marriage, I can’t get ahead in life” are lies from the pit of Hell. The truth of the matter is you can and you will, if you go through Christ.
The Bible says…I can do all things. (I can have a good marriage, I can get out of debt, I can get healthy, and I can have peace in my home.) I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves that keeps us from living The Blessed life God has for us is when we say…"I CAN'T DO THAT".
